Prof. Patricia E. Salkin

Prof. Patricia E. Salkin of Albany (Albany Law School)
has been elected chair of the Municipal Law Section of the New York
State Bar Association.
Salkin received her undergraduate degree from the
University at Albany and earned her law degree from Albany Law
School.
Salkin is an associate dean, Raymond and Ella Smith
Distinguished Professor of Law, and the director of the Government Law
Center of Albany Law School. A nationally recognized expert on land use
zoning and law, she teaches courses in land use law, housing law and
policy, New York administrative law, current legal issues and government
ethics. She is the author of dozens of law review articles, chapters in
books and other publications, including serving as a co-editor of two
books published by the State Bar on government ethics and legal careers
in state government.
Salkin is a member of the State Bar’s House of
Delegates and chair of the Committee on Attorneys in Public Service, of
which she is a founding member. She previously chaired the Task Forces
on Eminent Domain and Town and Village Justice Courts. She is a member
of the Special Committee on Court Structures, Task Force on Global
Warming, Committee to Review Judicial Nominations, and the Committee on
Legislative Policy. She is a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.
Salkin received the Committee on Attorneys in Public Service’s
Excellence in Public Service Award in 2002.
Salkin is an appointed member of the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency's National Environmental Justice
Advisory Council. She is active in the American Bar Association, where
is a member of the House of Delegates and past chair of the ABA’s
State and Local Government Law Section.
