Committee on Evidence

The primary focus of the Committee on Evidence is to examine the feasibility of establishing uniform rules of evidence for New York State.  The Committee is currently working on the preparation of a report to study the feasibility of codifying rules of evidence in New York.  The report will include an historical perspective of prior efforts to establish uniform rules, a survey of states that have codified their rules of evidence, and how opposition to uniform rules might be avoided in future recommendations to the Legislature and various interest groups.

The Committee also seeks to educate lawyers on evidence issues, including the use of evidence in practice, and signficant changes and trends in the law relating to evidence in both state and federal courts.
