
Emily F. Franchina
Vice-President, 10th District
Emily F. Franchina of Garden City (Franchina & Giordano, P.C.)
has been elected to serve as Vice-President for the 10th Judicial
District of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar
Association (NYSBA).
Franchina received her undergraduate degree from Long Island
University, and her law degree from Hofstra University School of
Law.
Franchina is a founding partner of the firm, Franchina &
Giordano, P.C., concentrating her practice in elder law, wills, trusts,
estate planning, and estate administration. Her practice also
includes representing biological mothers, adoptive couples, and
step-parents in domestic and international adoptions.
Within the State Bar, Franchina is a member of the House of Delegates
and past chair of the Young Lawyers Section. She also is a member of the
Elder Law and General Practice Sections. She previously served on the
Nominating Committee, the Special Committee Studying Legal Issues
Affecting Same-Sex Couples, and the Committee to Review Judicial
Nominations. She serves on the board of the New York Bar Foundation.
Franchina currently serves as president of the Nassau County Bar
Association. She is
active in many of its committees including her service as past chair and
member of Committee on Elder Law, Social Services and Health Advocacy,
Surrogate’s Court Estates and Trusts Committee, Advisory Board of
the Nassau Academy of Law and We Care Advisory Board.
Franchina was named one of Long Island’s 50 Most Influential
Women of 2008. She received the Outstanding Service Award from the Long
Island Alzheimer’s Foundation in 1999 and 2005. She is the 2009
recipient of the Juliette Low Award of Distinction for the Girl Scouts,
and she received the Annual Business Leadership Award for volunteerism
from the Advancement for Commerce, Industry and Technology, (ACIT) in
December 2009.
