
Sharon Stern Gerstman
Vice-President, 8th District
Sharon Stern Gerstman of Buffalo was elected vice-president of the
8th Judicial District on the Executive Committee.
Gerstman is of counsel to Magavern Magavern Grimm. She concentrates
her practice in the areas of mediation and arbitration, and appellate
practice. She previously was the principal law clerk and
matrimonial referee for the 8th Judicial District of the New York
Supreme Court.
A 31-year member of the State Bar, Gerstman previously served on the
Executive Committee as an 8th district vice-president and
member-at-large. She is a member of the House of Delegates, Finance
Committee, Dispute Resolution Section, and Torts, Insurance and
Compensation Law Section’s Executive Committee. She is co-chair of
the Special Committee on Strategic Planning.
She was chair of the Committee on Civil Practice Law and Rules and
the Special Committee on Lawyer Advertising and Lawyer Referral
Services. She previously co-chaired the Task Force on E-Filing and the
Special Committee on Lawyer Advertising. She also served on the American
Bar Association’s Board of Governors for three years and is a
current member of the ABA’s House of Delegates.
Gerstman graduated from Brown University and earned her law degree
from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She received an LL.M.
from Yale Law School.
