In this program, Deborah A. Scalise reviews the ethical dilemmas often encountered by practitioners in the areas of client retainer agreements; maintenance of client-based escrow accounts; law firm advertising and averting ethical infractions in setting up and using a solo or small firm legal website. This course includes written materials in easy to use electronic PDF format which can be downloaded to your computer for easy reference. About the Speaker: Deborah A. Scalise is a partner in the firm of Scalise & Hamilton LLP located in Scarsdale, New York. Her practice concentrates on the representation of professionals (lawyers, judges, accountants, doctors and government employees) in professional responsibility and ethics-related matters and white-collar crime. Before entering private practice, Ms. Scalise held the position of Deputy Attorney General in Charge of Public Advocacy for the Westchester Region and was responsible for cases involving consumer fraud, civil rights, public integrity and environmental concerns. Prior to that, she was the Deputy Chief Counsel to the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the First Judicial Department. In her nine years at the Committee, she litigated complex disciplinary matters, including: investigations, hearings and appellate review of attoney ethical misconduct. Ms. Scalise is active in several bar associations and lectures frequently on legal ethics in a wide variety of legal venues.
