STATE BAR ASSOCIATION, BAR FOUNDATION RAISING MONEY TO HELP SUPERSTORM SANDY VICTIMS OBTAIN LEGAL HELP
The “Superstorm Sandy Relief Fund” will lend financial support to local bar associations and legal service providers, helping those organizations reach out to those in need and provide essential legal services to storm victims. Among the legal services most sought by victims are help with landlord-tenant issues, insurance matters, obtaining government assistance and dealing with contractors. “As we move forward with the recovery process, we anticipate that there will be a growing need for assistance with the many legal issues facing individuals, families and businesses in the affected areas,” State Bar President Seymour W. James, Jr. (The Legal Aid Society in New York City) and Bar Foundation President Cristine Cioffi of Niskayuna (Cioffi Slezak Wildgrube) said in a joint letter to potential donors.
