NEW YORK BAR FOUNDATION ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS FOR CORPORATE COUNSEL FELLOWSHIP

A nonprofit or public interest legal organization will receive funding to host a law student intern this summer under a fellowship program of The New York Bar Foundation.

The New York-based organization can apply for a grant of $6,000 to award a summer fellowship to a first- or second-year law student of a diverse background. The fellowship is funded with donations to the Foundation from the Corporate Counsel Section of the New York State Bar Association and other donors. The student must be enrolled in a law school in New York State during the 2013 spring semester.

“Fellowships, such as the Corporate Counsel Fellowship, ensure that students gain real-world legal experience and the legal profession grows in diversity,” said Bar Foundation President Cristine Cioffi (Cioffi•Slezak•Wildgrube).  “It is a privilege to host this program.”

“It is our great honor to enter our second year in providing funding for this worthy endeavor. We hope to continue the success of helping a selected organization and fellow benefit from this exciting program,” said David Rothenberg of New York City (Goldman Sachs), chair of the Corporate Counsel Section.
