RESPECT TO FEDERAL BUDGET SEQUESTRATION
Read
President James' op-ed urging congress to act to
protect funding for federal courts and civil legal services
through the Legal Services Corporation, which was published in the New
York Law Journal on September 26, 2012.
In addition to President James' op-ed in the New
York Law Journal, he sent an October 9, 2012 letter to the New

late fall trip to Washington, D.C. to urge positive action on these
issues.
On November 20, 2012, President Seymour James sent
a
letter co-signed by 15 local bar presidents from across the
state again urging the New York Congressional delegation to protect
funding for the courts and the Legal Services
Corporation.
On November 28, 2012, President Seymour James and
President-Elect David Schraver, along with Mark Alcott (past President
and Chair of the New York delegation to the ABA), Alan Rothstein,
Sandra Rivera, and Tracee Davis (memebrs of the Committee on Federal
Legislative Priorities) met with over twenty members of Congress to
