A member of The New York Bar Foundation Legacy Society, Richardson was elected a Fellow of The Foundation in 1990 and served as chair of the Fellows from 2004-2007. She has served as an officer, director or ex officio director of the Foundation since 1993. Richardson has been awarded the Onondaga County Bar Association’s Distinguished Lawyer Award (2003); New York State Bar Association’s prestigious Ruth G. Schapiro Memorial Award (2002); Syracuse University Law College Association’s Distinguished Service Award (1996); Albany Law School’s Kate Stoneman Award (1996); SUNY Oswego’s Outstanding Alumni (1995); Syracuse Law Review’s Alumni Achievement Award (1995); the Girls Inc. of Central New York’s 1994 Spirit of American Women Award; Onondaga County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award (1989); the 1989 Athena Award from the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce Small Business Bureau; the 1988 Take The Lead Award from the Central New York Girl Scout Council; and the 1987 Post-Standard’s Women of Achievement-Career Award.

During her professional career,
A graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego (B.S., 1963), Richardson was awarded degrees from the University of Northern Colorado (M.A., 1969); Syracuse University College of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 1977); and State University of New York (honorary Doctor of Laws, 2005). She is a member of the Order of Coif; Justinian Honorary Law Society (National Honorary); SUNY Oswego Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi; The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (Honor Society of Women Educators); Kappa Delta Pi (National Education Honorary); and Lambda Sigma Tau (National Mathematics Honorary).president. She served on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association from 2003-2006.
