NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION PUBLISHES UPDATED
RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT BOOK
Guide Provides Information on New Ethics and
Professional Conduct Rules
A new publication is now available to attorneys which offers, in a
convenient single volume, the text of New York’s Rules of
Professional Conduct. Published by the New York State Bar Association,
the book provides, in addition to the Rules, commentary to each rule as
adopted by the Association. This commentary can serve as an aid in
helping lawyers practicing in New York to better understand their
ethical responsibilities as a member of the legal profession.
The New York Rules of Professional Conduct were promulgated as Joint
Rules of the Appellate Divisions of the Supreme Court, effective April
1, 2009. They replace the former Part 1200 (Disciplinary Rules of the
Code of Professional Responsibility).
The cost of the book is $12 for New York State Bar Association members
and $20 for non-members (prices do not include applicable sales tax).
Anyone interested in purchasing a copy can do so by visiting www.nysba.org/pubs or by calling 1-800-582-2452.
