Steven M. Alden

Steven M. Alden of New York City is the new chair of the 4,313-member
Real Property Law Section.
Alden is of counsel to Debevoise & Plimpton. He has been with the
firm since 1971 and was a partner from 1979 to 2012. His practice covers
all aspects of the real estate business.
A 22-year member of the State Bar, Alden most recently served as the
Real Property Section’s first vice-chair. He previously co-chaired
the section’s Committee on Continuing Legal Education, Committee
on Real Estate Financing, and the Task Force on Mortgage Foreclosure. He
is a former member of the House of Delegates.
Alden graduated magna cum laude from the University of
California at Los Angeles and earned his law degree from the University
of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was a
member of the Order of the Coif and the California Law Review.
