Power of Attorney after the Technical Corrections (2010)

The significant changes to New York’s power of attorney law in 2009 also included many perceived flaws, difficulties and inconsistencies. Many of these shortcomings and unintended problems have now been addressed in the legislation passed and signed in mid-2010 (Chapter 340) that makes technical corrections and revisions to the 2009 law.

In this one hour webcast co-sponsored by the Elder Law Section, Trusts and Estates Law Section and Committee on Continuing Legal Education, a panel of lawyers experienced in trusts and estates, elder and business law  review the most important changes to the 2009 law wrought by this Technical Corrections Bill and how attorneys should now be preparing and drafting powers of attorney in their practices.

The Technical Corrections Bill does not eradicate all the complexities and uncertainties of the 2009 law, but this recent webcast presentation should give you a higher “comfort level” in handling and using power of attorney forms in your financial, elder law and estate planning practices.
