Committee on Law Practice Continuity Home
Welcome to the Law Practice Continuity Committee Web
Site
This Committee serves the public and the profession by:
- helping attorneys prepare for retirement, disability or other
planned or unplanned interruptions in the practice of law
- encouraging estate planning for your law practice
- providing assistance with transitions when a solo practitioner dies
or becomes disabled
- providing speakers for NYSBA and local Bar Association CLE
programs
- assisting local Bar Associations in establishing and administering
professional continuity committees
Planning Ahead
In 2005 the NYSBA published Planning Ahead, which was
written by Law Practice Continuity Committee members. This book may be
downloaded or purchased by accessing the link which appears on this
page. Planning Ahead includes materials and forms to assist
attorneys in preparing an advance exit plan to protect client interests
in the event of disability, retirement or
death. It is probably the most comprehensive book on this subject
which has been published in the United States.
