STATED PURPOSE

COMMITTEE ON VOLUNTEER LAWYERS
Formed:  January 1, 1984
Changed to Standing Committee: November, 2001

The Committee on Volunteer Lawyers shall be charged with the duty to provide pro bono legal services in the civil area and to create and promote programs designed to achieve this purpose and to involve other members of the State Bar Association in this effort.  The Committee shall offer this assistance to persons in need, primarily to the indigent residents of organized, private non-profit institutions such as drug treatment and rehabilitation centers, abused person centers, homeless person centers and other facilities whose purpose is the care and treatment of persons with special needs.  All members of the State Bar Association are encouraged to participate.
