COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL

MISSION
STATEMENT
The physical environment
transcends national borders. Environmental
law has followed in treaties, customary law and national
regulations. Multinational business and
non-governmental organizations must comply with this patchwork of
applicable laws.
The goals of the International
Environmental Law Committee are to (1) develop among its members an
understanding of the various environmental legal regimes and treaties;
(2) promote the rule of law in the development of sustainable national
and international policies; (3) create a robust world-wide network of
environmental legal practitioners; and (4) explore the connections and
overlaps between environmental law and other legal
disciplines.
To achieve these goals, the
International Environmental Law Committee will engage in the following
activities (1) hold meetings of its members; (2) organize substantive
discussions of environmental law issues at meetings of the International
Section ; (3) coordinate with other Committees and other Sections of the
New York State Bar Association; (4) contribute content to the
publications of the International Section and New York State Bar
Association; and (5) create networking opportunities for its
members.
