DAVID ADKINS, PH.D., APPOINTED CHIEF TECHNOLOGY
OFFICER
OF NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION
David L. Adkins, Ph.D., of Voorheesville has been named the new chief
technology officer of the New York State Bar Association.
Adkins, who assumed the newly-created position on March 4, is
developing a long-range strategic technology vision for the Association
and supervises the Management Information Services Department, which
oversees all technology for the 76,000-member Bar Association.
“David Adkins is a proven leader with a tremendous command of
technology, outstanding organizational skills and extensive strategic
planning experience,” said Patricia K. Bucklin, executive director
of the State Bar Association. “We are fortunate to have someone
with his expertise and leadership abilities join our team. I look
forward to the many contributions he will make to serve our members and
staff.”
Prior to joining the Bar Association, Adkins since 2004 had served as
director of information technology for the New York State United
Teachers (NYSUT), which has more than 600,000 members. He began working
at NYSUT in 1993. He previously was associated with several technology
firms in the Albany area.
A telecommunications production major at Syracuse University, Adkins
earned an MBA as well as a Ph.D. in information science from the State
University of New York at Albany. He has been an adjunct instructor at
the State University of New York at Albany, Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute and Siena College. He also conducts an online course for the
University of Maryland, Graduate School of Management and
Technology.
Adkins serves as vice-chairman of the board of Council Services Plus
and the Heldeberg Workshop. He is a board member of the New York State
Council of Nonprofits. He also is a member of the School of Business
Advisory Committee for Hudson Valley Community College.
The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest
voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in
1876.
