Webcast and Live Program Features Legal
Experts and FEMA, IRS and Red Cross officials
One thousand lawyers from across the state plan to take part in a
webinar on Thursday, November 15, on how to assist victims of Superstorm
Sandy with their storm-related legal questions.
Reporters are invited to watch online or attend in person at one of
four sites: Albany, New York City, Nassau County and Suffolk County.
Sponsored by the New York State Bar Association, the training
session, "Providing Legal Assistance to Persons Affected by Superstorm
Sandy,” will feature attorneys who are experts in legal issues
faced by storm victims, such as insurance, housing (landlord/tenant),
replacement of legal documents, family law, banking and other matters.
Representatives from the American Red Cross, FEMA, IRS, Coast Guard,
Small Business Administration, state Department of Labor and state
Department of Financial Services also will participate.
The program will be presented live at the State Bar headquarters in
Albany and will be available as a live webcast statewide. It also will
be webcast to groups of lawyers at the New York City Bar Association,
Touro Law Center and the Nassau County Bar Association.
Reporters wishing to view the webcast online or attend a group
