MONTICELLO ATTORNEY JOHN A. FERRARA RECEIVES
STATE BAR’S ATTORNEY PROFESSIONALISM AWARD
Monticello attorney John A. Ferrara is the 2013 recipient of the
Attorney Professionalism Award, given by the Committee on Attorney
Professionalism of the New York State Bar Association.
The award recognizes a member who displays the highest standards of
professionalism, commitment to promoting respect for the legal system,
outstanding ethical conduct, competence, good judgment, integrity and
civility. Ferrara received his award on January 24 in New York City
during the State Bar’s House of Delegates dinner.
“John Ferrara’s total commitment to his clients is the
core of his legal practice. He treats every client with dignity and
respect, while providing them with zealous and intelligent
representation,” said Marion Hancock Fish of Syracuse (Hancock
Estabrook), chair of the Committee on Attorney Professionalism.
“He is a model of integrity for all lawyers.”
More than a dozen colleagues, judges and adversaries supported
Ferrara’s nomination. They praised his preparation, attention to
detail and command of recent case law.
Ferrara is a partner of Ferrara and Sullivan in Monticello. He
concentrates his practice in criminal, family and divorce law.
He is a past president of the Sullivan County Bar Association and a
member of the Committee on Professional Standards for the Third Judicial
Department.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook,
Ferrara earned his law degree from the American University School of
Law.
The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest
voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in
1876.
