For those involved or interested in political
campaigns and who may represent political and public figures, we are
pleased to offer an updated version of our well-received 2008 and 2010
programs on election law that will address many of 2012’s issues
and problems arising under New York’s election law. The
complexities and minutiae in the law and its processes - from getting on
the ballot, financing the campaign monitoring activities on
election day, and all the way through to post-election court strategies
and options – create vast opportunities for inadvertent and
substantial errors that can lead to court challenges and greatly affect
candidates and their campaigns. "Follow the money" will be
one of the themes of the program, with a discussion on campaign
financing, including an update on the Supreme Court decision
in Citizens United.
This important, half-day seminar, is a practical hands-on primer that
will familiarize you with the New York laws regulating elections in the
state, offer tips in recognizing possibly illegal campaign activities,
and suggest how to most appropriately handle challenges and
controversies when they do arise. The seminar also will
discuss “dirty” election tactics and anti-deceptive
practices legislation.
