We invite you to join us for the 2013 annual meeting of the Technology & Venture Law Committee. The meeting will include a CLE session (1.5 credits pending approval) to bring you up to date on the latest developments in tech company capital-raising from large groups of investors or donors. Subjects will include the state of crowdfunding regulations, the recent SEC rules on general solicitations in private offerings, and distinctions between crowdfunding securities and other types of crowdfunding.

We are very pleased to announce that Jeffrey W. Rubin, one of the nation’s leading securities lawyers and a New York partner of Hogan Lovells, will join the Technology and Venture Law Committee’s meeting to provide us with the latest information and his valued insights on crowdfunding and other JOBS Act initiatives relating to raising funds from large groups through alternatives to traditional public offerings, including the  recent SEC rules regarding general solicitation in certain Reg. D private offerings.

Our other distinguished speaker will be David Postolski, a New York/New Jersey patent attorney with Day Pitney LLP.  Mark will focus on reward-based fundraising sites like Kickstarter or RocketHub, including legal and business traps that can catch unwary fundraisers and their counsel.

This committee meeting is free to Business Law Section members, but pre-registration is required.  Space is limited.

To Register: email SBSC@nysba by 10am on January 22, 2013 with the program title and code.  For questions, contact businesslaw@nysba.org.
