Crowdfunding for Theatre and Film under the Jumpstart Out Business Startups (JOBS) Act of 2012
 (2.0 credits in Professional Practice)
Raising money in this stagnant economy has been a daunting task for experienced theatrical and film producers, particularly when complying with SEC rules and regulations. The JOBS Act aims to alleviate such restrictions by expanding solicitation options for parties capitalizing a variety of commercial live stage productions and film projects. The panelists will include theatre and film producers discussing fundraising options, together with veteran attorneys presenting the financing hurdles in such strategies, and exploring how the JOBS Act may lighten theburden imposed by the SEC.

New Business Models in Music and Media (2 credits in Professional Practice)
Changes in technology have irrevocably altered the legal issues and business models in music and media, and more changes are ahead. The growth of broadband in both the online and mobile spaces, coupled with an ongoing proliferation of new digital services and devices, presents both opportunities and challenges for music and media businesses, musicians, and the lawyers who represent them all. Copyright and other laws still struggles to adapt, resulting in a constant stream of novel litigation and proposed legislation. Come join us for an informative and entertaining discussion of cutting edge legal and business issues concerning music and media business models, such as those involving access versus ownership, sale versus licensing, subscription versus advertising, streaming versus downloading, interactive versus non-interactive, statutory licenses versus direct licenses, and more.

Under New York’s MCLE rule, this program has been approved for a total of 4.0 MCLE credit hours in the areas of professional practice. This program is not transitional and does not qualify for credit for newly admitted attorneys because it is not a basic practical skills program.
