Ellen G. Makofsky

Ellen G. Makofsky of Garden City (Raskin & Makofsky) has been
elected Member-At-Large of the Executive Committee of the New York State
Bar Association.
Makofsky received her undergraduate degree from Boston University and
earned her law degree from Brooklyn Law School, cum laude. She earned a
master’s degree from Queens College of the City of New York.
Makofsky is a partner of Raskin and Makofsky, concentrating her
practice in elder law, estate planning, guardianships and estate
administration. The National Elder Law Foundation has certified her as
an elder law attorney. She serves as Secretary of the Estate Planning
Council of Nassau County, Inc.
An active member of the State Bar, Makofsky is a past member of the
House of Delegates and chair of the Elder Law Section. She is also a
member of the Membership Committee and the Trusts and Estates Law
Section. She received the Elder Law Section’s 2009 award for her
efforts in furthering the rights of the elderly and persons with
disabilities.
A frequent lecturer and writer on elder law and trusts and estates,
Makofsky is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and
the Nassau County Bar Association; Elder Law, Social Services and Health
Advisory Committee; and the Surrogate’s Court Trusts and Estates
Committee.
Active in her community, Makofsky is a founder and past chair for the
Senior Umbrella Network of Queens. She is the past co-chair of the Long
Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (“LIAF”) Legal Advisory
Board and is past president of the Gerontology Professionals of Long
Island, Nassau Chapter. She is a former co-chair of the Senior Umbrella
Network of Nassau.
