Lillian M. Moy
Vice-President, 3rd District

Lillian M. Moy of Albany (executive director, Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, Inc.) has been elected to serve as Vice-President for the Third District of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).

Moy received her undergraduate degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York and earned her law degree from Boston University School of Law.

Moy is the executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, Inc. From 1989-1995 she was the managing attorney/advocacy coordinator for the Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts. Moy previously was a staff attorney with the Georgia Legal Services Program from 1981-1989.

Within the State Bar, Moy is chair of the Committee on Minorities in the Profession and a past chair of the Committee on Legal Aid. She is a member of the Membership Committee and the President’s Committee on Access to Justice and a past member of the House of Delegates. She received the State Bar’s Denison Ray Program Director Award in 2008.

A nationally recognized leader and trainer in the civil legal aid community, Moy is an adjunct Professor at the Albany Law School. Moy also serves on the New York State Judicial Screening Committee for the Third Department. She was a member of the Task Force for the ABA’s Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defense revising the ABA Standards for Providers of Civil Legal Aid to the Poor. 

She is the immediate past chair of the Civil Policy Group of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and a former board member.  She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Albany Medical Center and the Corporation for AIDS Research, Education and Services, Inc. (CARES).
