Member-at-Large

Albany attorney Hermes Fernandez, (Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC), has been elected to the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).  He serves as a member-at-large.

The 26-member Executive Committee oversees the management and administration of the state bar within policies determined by its governing body, the House of Delegates.

Fernandez received his undergraduate degree from LeMoyne College, with honors, in 1977, and earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law in 1981.

Fernandez concentrates his practice in the areas of administrative and legislative law, health law, government regulation, and litigation, advising clients on the requirements of and compliance with State statutes and regulations. He advises on state contracts, constitutional issues, rate-making, and regulatory compliance to minority and women-owned business enterprises.

Active in the State Bar’s Health Law Section and many of its subcommittees, he is also a member of the Committee on Legislative Policy.  He previously served on the special committees on State Constitution and Governance, Diversity and Leadership Development, and Issues Affecting Same Sex Couples.

Prior to joining Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, Fernandez served as Assistant Counsel to Governor Mario Cuomo. Before coming to Albany, he was a trial attorney with the Civil Division of the United States Justice Department in Washington, D.C., and judicial clerk to the Hon. John A. MacKenzie, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Fernandez is a frequent author and lecturer on various topics in health law, and administrative and governmental practice.
