Hermes Fernandez

Albany attorney Hermes Fernandez, (Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC),
has been elected to the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar
Association (NYSBA). He serves as a member-at-large.
The 26-member Executive Committee oversees the management and
administration of the state bar within policies determined by its
governing body, the House of Delegates.
Fernandez received his undergraduate degree from LeMoyne College,
with honors, in 1977, and earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from
Syracuse University College of Law in 1981.
Fernandez concentrates his practice in the areas of administrative
and legislative law, health law, government regulation, and litigation,
advising clients on the requirements of and compliance with State
statutes and regulations. He advises on state contracts, constitutional
issues, rate-making, and regulatory compliance to minority and
women-owned business enterprises.
Active in the State Bar’s Health Law Section and many of its
subcommittees, he is also a member of the Committee on Legislative
Policy. He previously served on the special committees on State
Constitution and Governance, Diversity and Leadership Development, and
Issues Affecting Same Sex Couples.
Prior to joining Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, Fernandez served
as Assistant Counsel to Governor Mario Cuomo. Before coming to Albany,
he was a trial attorney with the Civil Division of the United States
Justice Department in Washington, D.C., and judicial clerk to the Hon.
John A. MacKenzie, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern
District of Virginia.
Fernandez is a frequent author and lecturer on various topics in health
law, and administrative and governmental practice.
