Susan B. Lindenauer
Vice-President, 1st District
Manhattan attorney Susan B. Lindenauer has been elected to the
Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association. She will
serve as vice president for the 1st Judicial District.
The 26-member Executive Committee oversees the management and
administration of the Association within policies determined by its
governing body, the House of Delegates.
Lindenauer served The Legal Aid Society in a variety of roles for 38
years, including Counsel to the President, Attorney-in-Chief, Counsel to
the Executive Director and Assistant for Legal Affairs to the Executive
Director and as an attorney for the Civil Division.
Lindenauer earned her LLB. cum laude from the Columbia University
School of Law. She received an A.B. magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa
from Smith College.
Active in the Association, Lindenauer is a member of the House of
Delegates, the Committee on Standards of Attorney Conduct, and the
Special Committee on Standards for Delivery of Mandated Representation.
She is vice-chair of the Special Committee on Youth Outreach, a former
chair of the Legal Aid Committee and a member of the Special Committee
on Collateral Consequences of Conviction. She also serves on the Tax Law
Section’s Committee on Exempt Organizations.
Lindenauer is vice-chair of the Fellows of the New York Bar
Foundation and a member of its Board of Directors. She is the recipient
of Special Recognition for Service to the Bar and the Community from the
Association’s Criminal Justice Section and was appointed by Chief
Judge Judith S. Kaye to the New York State Commission on the Jury.
