David A. Tyler
Vice-President, 6th District

Attorney David A. Tyler, member of Miller Mayer, LLP in Ithaca, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), representing the Sixth Judicial District (Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Madison, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins counties).

The 26-member Executive Committee oversees the management and administration of the state bar within policies determined by its governing body, the House of Delegates.

Tyler received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College in 1969, and earned his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1975.  His military service included the rank of Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Tyler concentrates his practice in the areas of bank lending, commercial and residential real estate, municipal law, estate planning/administration, and elder law.

Active in the NYSBA, Tyler is a member of the Real Property and Municipal Law sections, and served as a delegate to the House of Delegates.

Tyler is past president of the Tompkins County Bar Association, and is a member of the Tompkins County Estate Planning Council.  He is a current member of the Commercial Panel of the American Arbitration Association.

Active in his community, Tyler is a member and past chair of the Town of Ulysses Planning Board, and is currently a member of the town’s Comprehensive Plan Committee.  He serves on the boards of Glenwood Handicapped Services, New York Alpha Foundation, and he chairs the Church Board of Trustees.
