Lauren J. Wachtler

New York attorney Lauren J. Wachtler, a partner with Montclare &
Wachtler, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the New York
State Bar Association (NYSBA). She will serve as a member-at-large.
The 26-member Executive Committee oversees the management and
administration of the state bar within policies determined by its
governing body, the House of Delegates.
Wachtler graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 1976, and
earned her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in
1978.
Prior to her affiliation with Montclare & Wachtler, she was a
partner with Shea & Gould in New York. Wachtler is also
admitted to practice in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Third
Circuit Court of Appeals, and Federal District Court for the Southern
and Eastern Districts of New York.
Active in the State Bar, Wachtler is immediate past chair of the
Commercial and Federal Litigation Section. She is the
section’s representative to the House of Delegates and chairs the
section’s Mentoring Program, Evidence Committee, and Arbitration
and Mediation Committee. A charter member of the
section’s Task Force on Judicial Independence, she also serves on
the Task Force on Attorney-Client Privilege and the Task Force on
Electronic Filing of Court Documents. She is a Fellow of The
New York Bar Foundation.
In addition to her Association activities, Wachtler is a member of
the American Bar Association, New York County Lawyers Association,
Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the Federal Bar
Council.
She serves on the Commercial Division Advisory committees for the
State of New York and New York County, and is a member of the Committee
for Courts of Superior Jurisdiction of the Association of the Bar of the
City of New York.
A frequent author and lecturer, Wachtler has chaired numerous state
bar association programs. She is a member of the Jewish
Women’s Foundation of New York and chairs the Policy and Strategy
Subcommittee of its Education and Advocacy Committee.
