Welcome!

The Health Law Section is one of the New York State Bar Association's youngest and fastest growing section. Formed in 1996, the Section and its committees organize professional and public education programs on health care law issues, make recommendations on health care law and policy, publish the Health Law Journal and provide a forum in which health care attorneys meet, exchange ideas, and improve their knowledge and skills.

The Health Law Section is designed for members of the New York State Bar Association as a forum to provide professional education, exchange information and perspectives, and address issues relating to health law. Section functions include examining the possibilities of, and pursuing improvement in, health law, regulations and procedure; disseminating educational information and ideas relating to the development and practice in these fields, substantively and procedurally; advancing the interdisciplinary work of the bar with other disciplines involved in health care; and facilitating service to the public with respect to health law and related issues.

Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, legal issues relating to biotechnology, consumer/patient rights, health care providers, inhouse counsel, insurance and other payment methods for health care, managed care, issues of professional discipline, and the structure and design of the health care system.
