Product Description

Franchising is a vital part of New York’s business landscape. Increasing numbers of business lawyers are facing franchising matters not only for the first time but on an ongoing basis. Many franchisors are headquartered in our state, and hundreds more have a presence in New York through franchised or company-owned outlets. Investors are increasingly attracted to the growth potential of franchise companies. Many individuals and companies view their roles as franchise owners and developers as the best way to run and grow their own businesses.

Franchise law is interesting and challenging because it spans a number of legal disciplines, including contracts, corporate, intellectual property, trade regulation, licensing and distribution, real estate and litigation. Franchise law is of special interest now as franchisors transition to the new Federal Trade Commission rule on franchising. This updated version of our traditionally popular program is designed for those practitioners who do not practice franchise law on a regular basis, for those who are new to franchising and for those who seek an overview of franchise law and the new disclosure requirements.

This program highlights those issues and areas of franchise law with which the non-franchise lawyer should be familiar. The faculty members are highly experienced franchise law practitioners who provide valuable insight into the changing law and practice in this burgeoning field.
