NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION RECEIVES TOP AWARD FOR WEB SITE DESIGN BY NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BAR EXECUTIVES

Luminary Award for Excellence Given for Clean Design, Variety of Content and Easy-to-Use Navigation

ALBANY—The New York State Bar Association today announced that it received the 2009 Luminary Award for Excellence in Web sites for Large Bars for its redesigned Web site from the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE).  The Luminary Awards recognize excellence in marketing, public relations, regular publications, special publications, electronic publications and Web sites. The award was presented at the NABE’s Communications Section Workshop in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The New York State Bar Association’s Web site at www.nysba.org was redesigned in September 2008 and now has more than 150,000 visitors per month. The judges recognized the Web site for its clean design, easy-to-use navigation, practical information for attorneys and the public, and improved accessibility for people with disabilities. The Web site currently hosts more than 20 blogs on a variety of topics including climate change, securities litigation and assistance for lawyers in career transitions. It is also a valuable resource for attorneys searching for information on a host of subjects such as ethics policy, Continuing Legal Education and practice management. The public can take advantage of the legal resources available to get guidance on matters such as finding the right attorney, avoiding home foreclosure and how to navigate the complexities of the judicial system.

“We are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award from NABE and pleased that the State Bar’s new Web site has become such a useful resource for both the legal profession and the general public,” said President Michael E. Getnick (Getnick Livingston Atkinson & Priore, LLP of Utica and of counsel to Getnick & Getnick of New York City). “I want to thank our Electronic Communications Committee, our Web site Editor Barbara Beauchamp and the Design Services team for their initiative and creativity in making our Web site a premier communications resource for attorneys.”
