SÃO PAOLO AND NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATIONS
SIGN PACT TO PROMOTE LEGAL AND BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS
São Paolo Bar Association President Luiz
Flávio Borges D´Urso and New York State Bar Association
President Stephen P. Younger have signed an agreement to enhance
professional ties between the two organizations. The ceremony took place
on March 15 in São Paolo, Brazil.
The agreement builds on the organizations’ strong existing
relationship. The groups will share information on matters related
to professional ethics, legal training, trends in the profession and new
developments in the law and judicial systems in the states of São
Paolo and New York as well as the nations of Brazil and the United
States of America.
Attorneys belonging to either association would also be able to
attend meetings and professional training sessions sponsored by the
other association. The two organizations are motivated by a mutual
interest about the future of the legal profession.
“The way attorneys practice law in New York, São Paolo and
elsewhere is undergoing change, especially as technology shrinks
distances between people and nations,” said Younger of New
York (Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP). “This
agreement will enable us to work even more productively with our fellow
attorneys in São Paolo.”

The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest
voluntary state bar association in the United States of America.
It was founded in 1876.
