STATE BAR SEEKS NOMINEES FOR CITATION FOR SPECIAL
ACHIEVEMENT IN PUBLIC SERVICE
Annual Citation Honors Special Achievements of
Public Service Attorneys and Law Offices
ALBANY—The New York State Bar Association is seeking nominees
for its Citation for Special Achievements in Public Service. Sponsored
by the Committee on Attorneys in Public Service, the citation recognizes
unique or special achievements made by public service attorneys or
public service law offices in relation to a particular event that
impacts the public. The 2010 citation will be presented on June 16, 2010
at the State Bar Center in Albany.
“Every day, public service attorneys make vital and invaluable
contributions to improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers,
often in a quiet, unrecognized manner. This award shines a light on
their hard work and tireless commitment in effectively meeting the needs
of our citizens,’ said Committee Chair Hon. Peter S. Loomis of
Albany (New York State Department of Transportation). “We look
forward to again honoring the outstanding achievements of some of New
York’s best public advocates.”
The deadline for nominations is April 16, 2010. Nominations should be

Last year’s inaugural winners were: Amy Pitcairn Barasch of
Albany (executive director, New York State Office for the Prevention of
Domestic Violence; and Erin Noelle Guven of White Plains (Legal Services
of the Hudson Valley).
The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the official
statewide organization of lawyers in New York and the largest voluntary
state bar association in the nation. Founded in 1876, State Bar programs
and activities have continuously served the public and improved the
justice system for more than 130 years.
