NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES NEW CAREER
CENTER RESOURCE FOR ATTORNEYS
Web Site Provides One-Stop-Shopping for Job
Seekers, Employers and Recruiters
Continuing its commitment to providing cutting-edge resources to help
attorneys find employment in this difficult job market, the New York
State Bar Association today launched a new Career Center that will match
attorneys who need jobs with employers who need attorneys. The NYSBA
Career Center, powered by JobTarget and located on the State Bar’s
Web site at www.nysba.org/jobs, will be a complete,
one-stop-shopping resource for job seekers, employers and
recruiters.
With competition for limited job openings getting tougher, it is
vital in today’s job market that attorneys have the most
up-to-date information on hand when searching for jobs in the legal
profession,” said State Bar President Michael E. Getnick (Getnick
Livingston Atkinson & Priore, LLP of Utica and of counsel to Getnick
& Getnick of New York City). “This outstanding new resource on
our Web site offers a powerful tool that matches job seekers with
employers and recruiters. Attorneys will now have timely and relevant
information as well as the right resources at their fingertips to
conduct a thorough and successful job search. Equally important,
employers and recruiters will have the ability to tap into the
unsurpassed talent of New York attorneys.”
The new NYSBA Career Center features state-of-the-art search tools
from JobTarget. The Center allows State Bar Association members to post
their resumes on the site free of charge for one year and to create a
“jobseeker account” that easily manages all of their
activities. Members will also be able to conduct timely, comprehensive
and targeted job searches, and receive daily email job alerts about
openings in specific professional areas of interest. All of the
same services also are available to non-member attorneys for a small
annual fee of $50.
Additionally, employers and recruiters will be able to
use the new Career Center to post job openings, review resumes, and
create an “employer account” to manage online recruiting
efforts. Fees depend on the type of employer (for instance, non-profit
or private law firm) and the desired length of posting time.
“This new Career Center is an important and practical benefit that
the State Bar is proud to offer. We know it will be an indispensable
tool that will make a real difference in the lives of the lawyers we
serve,” Getnick added.
