STATE BAR SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR ATTORNEY
PROFESSIONALISM AWARD
Award honors a Bar member who displays the highest
standards of professionalism
ALBANY—The New York State Bar Association today announced a
call for nominations for the 2011 Attorney Professionalism Award.
Sponsored by the Committee on Attorney Professionalism, the award honors
a Bar member who displays the highest standards of professionalism,
including extraordinary dedication to clients, unwavering commitment to
promoting respect for the legal system, exemplary ethical conduct, as
well as being a role model in the areas of competence, good judgment,
integrity and civility.
“With a marked dedication to serving their clients effectively
and ethically, and an unwavering commitment to promoting respect for the
legal system, the winners of the Attorney Professionalism Award
exemplify the highest standards of professionalism in the practice of
law,” said Committee on Attorney Professionalism Chair Marion
Hancock Fish of Syracuse (Hancock & Estabrook LLP). “We look
forward to honoring yet another esteemed recipient of this prestigious
award.”
The award honors attorneys who evidence the highest attributes of
professionalism in the practice of law: attorneys who have labored in
“the vineyard” and are especially valued by their clients
and their colleagues. Therefore, rather than a lifetime achievement
award, this particular honor relates to professionalism in the practice
of law.
The deadline for nominations is November 12, 2010. Nomination forms
are available at www.nysba.org/2011AttorneyProfessionalismAward.
The completed nomination form and supporting letters should be returned
to the Committee on Attorney Professionalism, New York State Bar
Association, One Elk Street, Albany, NY 12207. The award will be
presented at the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in January 2011.
Recent award winners are: Mark A. Longo of Brooklyn (Longo &
D’Apice); Jill M. Cicero of Rochester (Jill M. Cicero &
Associates); Peter V. Coffey (Englert, Coffey, McHugh and Fantauzzi,
LLP); Frank E. Yannelli of Rockville Centre (Yannelli & Zevin); and
Terrence M. Connors of Buffalo (Connors & Vilardo, LLP).
The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the official
statewide organization of lawyers in New York and the largest voluntary
state bar association in the nation. Founded in 1876, State Bar programs
and activities have continuously served the public and improved the
justice system for more than 130 years.
