STATE BAR ASSOCIATION COMMENDS STATE SENATE
CONFIRMATION OF NEW CHIEF JUDGE JONATHAN LIPPMAN
New York State Bar Association President Bernice K. Leber (Arent Fox
LLP) today praised the members of the New York State Senate for
confirming Judge Jonathan Lippman as the 23rd Chief Judge of the New
York Court of Appeals.
Leber said, “Judge Lippman’s strong leadership,
outstanding character, and steadfast commitment to implementing positive
reforms has transformed our justice system and greatly improved the
efficiency and effectiveness of New York’s courts. His
command for the law and extraordinary ability to work with all groups to
build consensus are tremendous assets that will assist his efforts to
ensure equal access to justice for all citizens. I
enthusiastically applaud the State Senate for confirming Judge Lippman
today and look forward to working with him in his new role as Chief
Judge. I also would like to pay particular thanks to Senator John
L. Sampson, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, for his leadership
in the confirmation process and especially during the committee hearing
this morning.”
