OFFERS SOLO PRACTITIONERS AND LAWYERS IN SMALL FIRMS COST-EFFECTIVE
MARKETING TIPS
State Bar’s Committees on Lawyers in
Transition and Law Practice Management Team Up to Offer Career
Development Webinar
To better serve small firm and solo practitioners who have been
impacted by the current economic climate and who are struggling to
effectively market their businesses, the New York State Bar Association
Lawyers in Transition and Law Practice Management committees will offer
a free webinar that will provide tips on how to retain and grow
relationships, attract new business, increase name recognition and
pursue targeted and effective communications strategies. The program
will take place on Tuesday, September 29th from 12 to 1 p.m. and will be
available to any lawyer who pre-registers at www.nysba.org/LawyersinTransition.
“To keep their businesses afloat in this tough economy, many
solo practitioners and lawyers practicing in small firms have been
forced to significantly cut back their marketing efforts and, in some
cases, have abandoned them altogether,” said President Michael E.
Getnick (Getnick Livingston Atkinson & Priore, LLP of Utica and of
counsel to Getnick & Getnick of New York City). “The Lawyers
in Transition Committee and the Law Practice Management Committee have
teamed up to offer this outstanding program where lawyers can get
insider tips on how to better manage their firms, create important name
recognition and develop effective marketing strategies to help them
generate business.”
The webcast is titled “15 Tips to Marketing Your Law Practice in a
Tight Economy” and will be presented by Terrie Wheeler, MBC,
founder and president of www.MarketYourLawPractice.com.
Spearheaded by Lauren J. Wachtler (Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp
LLP), chair of the State Bar’s Committee on Lawyers in Transition,
the webinar is part of an overall program to assist attorneys who need a
helping hand in reentering the job market and maintaining their
businesses in a down economy. The committee supports lawyers who are
currently unemployed, looking to make a career change, leaving a current
job or transitioning back into the workforce after time away from the
legal profession.
Pre-registration is required for the free program. If attorneys are
unable to participate in the live webinar, the session will be archived
and available on the committee’s Web site www.nysba.org/LawyersinTransition.
Other services offered by the Lawyers in Transition Committee include
the Lawyers in Transition blog that provides updated information on
networking opportunities, seminars, job information and other
information related to career searches. Also available on the
committee’s Web site is information on a variety of job postings,
volunteer and pro-bono opportunities, legal career re-entry programs,
CLE Scholarships and career consulting businesses.
The Law Practice Management Committee, chaired by Professor Gary A.
Munneke (Pace Law School), was formed to help lawyers investigate,
evaluate, develop, and promote techniques that will assist them in the
management of their practices and enable them to excel in a competitive
