FREE VIDEO ON THE DIVORCE PROCESS AVAILABLE FROM THE
NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION AND NEW YORK STATEUNIFIED COURT SYSTEM
The New York State Bar Association and the New York
State Unified Court System today announced that a video explaining the
basics of the divorce process in New York is available on both the
Association and Court Web sites for anyone to view free of charge.
The 40 minute video, narrated by Tony award winning actor Len Cariou,
will better educate clients about what to expect during a divorce case
and enhance the attorney-client relationship.
The free video, “The Divorce Process
in New
York : What you Need to
Know,” was produced by the Association’s Family Law Section
and provides the public with basic information on New
Yorkdivorce law and
domestic violence. The video provides
an overview of the law and covers topics such as child support,
maintenance, equitable distribution and domestic
violence. It is available at the Bar
Association’s site at www.nysba.org/FAMDivorceVideo and
the Unified Court System’s site at http://www.nycourts.gov/ip/matrimonial-matters .

produced an excellent video, which provides guidance to families that
are going through this stressful and sometimes complicated

with the Court System to distribute this information to the
public.”
The Hon. Jacqueline W. Silbermann, Deputy Chief
Administrative Judge for Matrimonial Matters said, “We are pleased
to be able to partner with the Bar Association and provide the public
with information about the divorce process. Divorce can be a painful, and is often times a complex process,
so providing people with essential information will allow them to make
informed decisions as they decide what is best for their
family.”
The Office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Judge
for Matrimonial Matters is responsible for the production and
distribution of information and services relating to matrimonial matters
to the Judiciary, non-judicial employees, matrimonial counsel and
litigants throughout the State. Effectively managing the matrimonial
litigation process remains one of the top priorities for this
Office.
The 74,000 member New York State Bar Association is
the official statewide organization of lawyers in New
Yorkand the largest
voluntary state bar association in the nation. Founded in 1876, NYSBA
programs and activities have continuously served the public and improved
the justice system for more than 130 years.
