STATE BAR ASSOCIATION SEEKS NOMINEES FOR 2012
EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARDS
The New York State Bar Association is seeking nominees for the 2012
Award for Excellence in Public Service.
The award, sponsored by the Committee on Attorneys in Public Service,
recognizes a lawyer’s commitment to, and performance of, public
service. It will be presented on Jan. 24, 2012 during the State
Bar’s Annual Meeting.
“The work of public service attorneys benefits all New Yorkers.
Through this award, we shine a light on their many contributions to
advance the public interest” said Committee Chair Peter Loomis of
Albany (Retired, New York State Department of Transportation). “We
look forward to honoring another group of outstanding
recipients.”
The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30, 2011. Nominations should be
sent to Maria Kroth, New York State Bar Association, One Elk Street,
Albany, NY 12207. They also may be faxed to 518-487-5579 or e-mailed to

Last year’s award recipients were: Norman Goodman, county clerk
of New York County; Jerome Lefkowitz, chair of the Public Employment
Relations Board; and Frederick P. Schaffer, general counsel and senior
vice chancellor for legal affairs at the City University of New
York.
The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest
voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in
1876.
