STATE BAR ASSOCIATION SEEKS NOMINEES FOR OUTSTANDING
YOUNG LAWYER AWARD
Annual Award To Be Presented At Bar
Association’s Annual Meeting In January
The New York State Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Section is
seeking nominees for its annual Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, which
will be presented at the Association’s annual meeting in January
in New York City. The award is presented to a young lawyer who has
rendered outstanding service to both the community and the legal
profession and has a distinguished record of commitment to the finest
traditions of the Bar through public service and professional
activities. To qualify, nominees must be under 37 years old and have
practiced law for less than 10 years.
“There are an incredible number of young, talented attorneys
practicing in New York State and we must continue to attract new, gifted
legal minds to this honorable profession,” said Valerie M.
Cartright Hempstead (Law Offices of Frederick K. Brewington), Chair of
the Young Lawyers Section. “We are proud to honor the rising stars
of our profession and I look forward to celebrating this prestigious
award with our eventual winner and with all of the deserving
nominees.”
In order to qualify for the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award nominees
must be admitted to practice in New York State and have practices for
fewer than 10 years. Nominees must be involved primarily in the active
practice of law as distinguished from those engaged in business or in
elected office. All submissions require a completed nomination form,

Previous winners of the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award include Laurie
Giordano of Rochester (Wolford & LeClair LLP), Michael C. Rakower of
New York City (Law Office of Michael C. Rakower), Elissa D. Hecker of
Irvington, Elizabeth A. Wolford of Rochester (Wolford & Leclair,
LLP), and Clyde J. Eisman of Manhattan.
All nominations must be postmarked no later than Friday, November 2,
2007 and returned to Outstanding Young Lawyer, c/o Megan O’Toole,
New York State Bar Association, One Elk Street Albany, New York
