NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION SPONSORS SEMINAR FOR
LAWYERS ON SAME-SEX MARRIAGE LAW

WHAT: The New York State Bar Association
will host a special Continuing Legal Education program, “Same-Sex
Marriage in New York: What Every Practitioner Needs to Know.” It
is designed to prepare attorneys for advising same-sex couples about New
York’s Marriage Equality Act.
Issues to be covered include: impact of the Defense of Marriage
Act; estate planning, children, dissolution, divorce, taxes,
pre-nuptial agreements; and interstate recognition of New York
marriages.
The Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program is sponsored by the
State Bar’s Committee on LGBT People and the Law. Co-sponsors are
the Family Law, Trusts & Estates and Tax sections as well as the
Committee on Continuing Legal Education.
