NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW SECTION
CHAIRS
ALBANY—Eight newly-appointed section chairs of the New York
State Bar Association will take office during the Bar’s Annual
Meeting this week.
The 25 sections of the State Bar publish material dealing with their
fields of expertise, much of which is not available through commercial
publishers. Sections also sponsor conferences, seminars and institutes,
monitor legislation and conduct studies. Each of the sections
contributes to policy-making, both in subject areas and
Association-wide.
The new section chairs are:
William H. Rooney of Manhattan (Willkie Farr &
Gallagher), chair of the 552-member Antitrust Section.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Yale Law School, Rooney
concentrates his practice in civil and criminal antitrust matters before
the federal courts and antitrust enforcement agencies.
David Rothenberg of Manhattan (Goldman Sachs Family
Office), chair of the 1,755-member Corporate Counsel
Section. A graduate of the State University of New York at
Stony Brook and Albany Law School, Rothenberg provides financial
planning to current and former partners of the firm.
Rosemarie Tully of Huntington (Rosemarie Tully,
P.C.), chair of the 1,743-member Entertainment, Arts and Sports
Law Section. A graduate of Adelphi University and the Touro Law
Center, Tully concentrates her practice in entertainment, business and
real property law.
Susan B. Lindenauer of Manhattan (retired, Legal Aid
Society), chair of the 2,254-member Senior Lawyers
Section. A graduate of Smith College and Columbia Law School,
Lindenauer was counsel to the president and attorney-in-chief of the
Legal Aid Society, where she worked for 38 years.
Andrew W. Needham of Manhattan (Cravath, Swaine and
Moore), chair of the 2,712-member Tax Law Section. A
graduate of the University of Arizona and the Georgetown University Law
Center, Needham concentrates his practice on tax advisory work in the
private equity and hedge fund sectors, mergers and acquisitions, joint
venture formation, spin-offs and general tax planning.
Jean Ferguson Gerbini of Albany (Whiteman Osterman
& Hanna), chair of the 2,847-member Torts, Insurance and
Compensation Law Section. A graduate of Harvard University and
Albany Law School, Gerbini concentrates her practice on insurance,
corporate and commercial matters.
Peter C. Kopff of Manhattan (Kopff, Nardelli &
Dopf), chair of the 2,392-member Trial Lawyers Section.
A graduate of Princeton University and Albany Law School, Kopff
concentrates his practice in the defense of medical malpractice
cases.
Ilene S. Cooper of Uniondale (Farrell Fritz), chair
of the 5,013-member Trusts and Estates Section. A
graduate of Cornell University and Hofstra Law School, Cooper
concentrates her practice in trusts and estates litigation.
The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest
voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in
1876.
