NEW YORK BAR FOUNDATION ACCEPTING
APPLICATIONS FOR CORPORATE COUNSEL SECTION FELLOWSHIP
Charitable and public interest legal organizations will be able to
host interns this summer under a new fellowship established by The New
York Bar Foundation.
Two organizations based in New York State will receive grants of
$6,000 each to award summer fellowships to first- or second-year law
students of a diverse background. Gifts to the Foundation from the
Corporate Counsel Section of the New York State Bar Association and
other donors will provide funding for the fellowships.
“We are very pleased to accept a gift from the Corporate
Counsel Section and individual donors to support the fellowship. This
will be a terrific opportunity for diverse students to learn about
in-house law,” said M. Catherine Richardson of Syracuse (Bond,
Schoeneck & King), president of The New York Bar Foundation.
“The section’s commitment to diversity continues to make a
difference for law students enrolled in New York State law
schools.”
“It is our great privilege to provide funding for this worthy
endeavor. Both the selected organizations and fellows will benefit from
this exciting new program,” said David Rothenberg of New York City
(Goldman Sachs), chair of the Corporate Counsel Section.
Fellows will assist the public interest legal or charitable
organizations’ general counsel, or similar counsel position, with
matters relating to counsel or advice to the organization from June 4 to
August 10, 2012.
Organizations must apply by February 29, 2012. Applications are
available at www.tnybf.org.
Students must be enrolled in a law school in New York State during
the 2012 spring semester.
