THE NEW YORK BAR FOUNDATION AWARDS $450,000 IN
CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL GRANTS
Sixty-seven organizations across New York State have received grants
totaling $450,000, The New York Bar Foundation announced today.
“We are pleased to support law-related projects that benefit
individuals, families and communities in New York State. These grants
help organizations fulfill their missions and provide vital services to
those in need,” said Bar Foundation President M. Catherine
Richardson of Syracuse (Bond, Schoeneck & King).
Thirteen grants will support Youth Court activities, while others
will support programs that assist domestic violence victims, low-income
immigrants, public service attorneys, vulnerable senior citizens and
incarcerated women.
Grantees include:
1st Judicial District (Manhattan):
Brennan Center for Justice, Center for Court Innovation, Court Appointed
Special Advocates (CASA) NYC, Edwin Gould Services for Children &
Families, Feerick Center for Social Justice/Fordham Law School, Gay
Men’s Health Crisis, Goddard Riverside Community Center, Lambda
Legal Defense and Education Fund, Lawyers for Children, Legal Action
Center, Legal Aid Society, Legal Information for Families Today, Lenox
Hill Neighborhood House, Lesbian and Gay Law Association Foundation of
Greater New York, MFY Legal Services, National Center for Law &
Economic Justice, New York Civil Liberties Union Foundation, New York
County Lawyers’ Association, New York Legal Assistance Group,
Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation, Partnership for the
Homeless, Safe Horizon, Selfhelp Community Services, The Door – A
Center of Alternatives, Urban Justice Center, Volunteers of Legal
Service.
2nd Judicial District (Kings County):
Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteers Lawyers Project and The George
Walker Jr. Community Coalition, both of Brooklyn; Center for Court
Innovation, Manhattan.
3rd Judicial District (Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer,
Schoharie, Sullivan, Ulster counties):
Albany County Bar Association; Capital District Women’s Bar
Association; Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York; New York State
Bar Association, Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction; New York
State Bar Association, Law, Youth & Citizenship Program; New York
State Bar Association, Special Committee on Student Loan Assistance for
the Public Interest; New York State Bar Center; New York State Defenders

5th Judicial District (Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida,
Onondaga, Oswego counties):

7th Judicial District (Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario,
Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Yates counties):
