VIDEO OF MAY 30 WRONGFUL CONVICTIONS PRESS CONFERENCE AVAILABLE ONLINE

The State Bar Association and the Innocence Project held a joint press conference on May 30, 2012, to urge the governor and the Legislature to approve legislation that would help reduce wrongful convictions in New York state.

The press conference featured leaders of the State Bar Association and the Innocence Project, several wrongfully convicted New York men, the mother of a wrongfully convicted individual, a Texas rape victim who identified the incorrect suspect, a Duke University lacrosse player wrongfully accused of rape, and a North Carolina police captain whose department has successfully initiated the reforms called for at the press conference.

The New York State Bar Association, with 77,000 members, is the largest voluntary state bar association in the country. It was founded in 1876.
