Product Description

This popular, basic-to-intermediate level program, updated and revamped from previous years, is structured to cover on a practical basis the issues and problems typically arising in today’s workplace on which corporate counsel, or a private practitioner with a general practice, may be called to handle on behalf of the company or the employee.

Although New York is an employment-at-will state, each employee is protected by a myriad of specific federal, state and New York City laws barring discrimination on a variety of bases and addressing workplace rights and policies.

The experienced employment law practitioners on the faculty review these laws with you and also discuss compliance strategies designed to avoid costly litigation. At the same time, the speakers show when and how to assert and pursue claims of violations of employment laws. Of special note is that time is added to the program 1) to discuss recommended, practical ways that you as counselor should manage relations with your individual or corporate client and 2) to address current and cutting-edge workplace issues, including the latest on overtime regulations, retaliation, sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination, and some of the sensitive ethical situations arising in the context of employment law litigation.

After using this recording, attendees should be able to spot and understand potential liabilities, help clients comply with applicable law and deal with the implications and risks of employment litigation.
