Fawn M. Horvath
Corporate Counsel Section

Fawn M. Horvath of New York (Macy’s Inc.) has been elected chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Horvath received her undergraduate degree Middlebury College and earned her law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Horvath is senior counsel of Macy’s, Inc., which operates approximately 850 retail department stores across the country under the names Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. Her practice involves managing trademark, copyright, and patent conflicts; policing infringements; and counseling clients regarding intellectual property issues in advertising and product development. She also drafts and negotiates license agreements and partners with clients on antitrust law, business ethics, and general business matters. She is the company’s primary counsel for intellectual property and on-line brand protection issues. She previously worked at the firm of Hall Dickler, LLP practicing in the areas of intellectual property and advertising compliance.

A veteran member of the Corporate Counsel Section, Horvath has served on the section’s executive committee since 2005. She also is a member of the Intellectual Property Section.

The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the official statewide organization of lawyers in New York and the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. Founded in 1876, NYSBA programs and activities have continuously served the public and improved the justice system for more than 130 years.
