Charles J. Siegel of New
York (Law Offices of
Charles J. Siegel) has been elected chair of the
Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar
Association.
Siegel received his undergraduate degree from State
University of New York at Stony Brook and earned his law degree from
Pace University School of Law. He also received a master’s degree
from Long Island University.
Siegel is the managing attorney of a 14-attorney
insurance defense firm for CNA Insurance. Over the years, he has
lectured to various claim departments, organizations and attorneys in
the area of premises liability, auto liability, New York Labor Law, Bad
Faith and the Internet.
The current chair of the Association’s
Electronic Communications Task Force, Siegel currently serves as the
Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section’s vice-chair and
co-chair of the section’s Information Technology Committee. He
previously served on the Task Force on E-Filing and the Special
Committee on Cyberspace Law.
The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is
the official statewide organization of lawyers in New
York and the largest
voluntary state bar association in the nation. Founded in 1876, NYSBA programs and activities have
continuously served the public and improved the justice system for more
than 130 years.
