Michael J. Amoruso
Elder Law Section
Michael J. Amoruso of Rye Brook (Amoruso & Amoruso, LLP) has been
elected chair of the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar
Association.
Amoruso received his law degree from Boston College and earned his
law degree from Boston College Law School.
Amoruso is the managing partner of Amoruso & Amoruso LLP,
concentrating his practice in elder care, asset protection, estate
planning and administration, and guardianship. He also is a founding
principal of ElderCounsel LLC, the premier elder law and special needs
planning document drafting solution for attorneys.
A member of the State Bar’s House of Delegates, Amoruso is a
veteran member of the Elder Law Section, currently serving as chair of
the Legislation Committee. Within the section, he is a member of the
Communications Committee and previously served as chair of the Estate
& Tax Planning Committee and the Leadership Task Force. He received
the Elder Law Section Award in 2007 for his work as principal drafter on
the Medicaid Compact for Long-Term Care. He is also a member of the
Trusts and Estates Law Section.
A frequent lecturer and nationally published author, Amoruso is the
President of the New York chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law
Attorneys. Amoruso is President-Elect of the Columbian Lawyers
Association of Westchester. Within the Westchester County Bar
Association, he co-chairs its Elder Law Committee and is a member of the
Board of Directors.
