Kelly M. Slavitt of Irvington is the new chair of the 1,985-member
Intellectual Property Law Section.
Slavitt is the deputy general counsel & legal director –
North America & Food at Reckitt Benckiser. She concentrates her
practice in contract drafting and negotiation, general corporate
matters, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, legal department
management and intellectual property.
A 10-year member of the State Bar, Slavitt co-chaired the Task Force
on Privacy from 2008 to 2011. Within the section, she has served as
vice-chair, treasurer and secretary. She won the section’s
Intellectual Property Writing Competition as a law student and later
co-chaired the section’s Young Lawyers Committee.
Slavitt graduated from Penn State University and earned her law
degree from Brooklyn Law School. She also earned a master’s degree
in policy from New York University and a master’s degree in
intellectual property from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
