BUFFALO ATTORNEY ROBERT GREENE RECEIVES STATE BAR’S ROOT/STIMSON AWARD

ALBANY – Robert M. Greene of Buffalo was honored with the Root/Stimson Award by the New York State Bar Association.

The award, presented in Cooperstown on June 25, honors an attorney for exemplary community service.

“Bob Greene’s legal skills and devotion to public service have distinguished his career. His recent work to make a better life for Haitians is nothing short of remarkable,” said President Vincent E. Doyle III of Buffalo (Connors & Vilardo). “We are pleased to honor him.”

Since 2001, Greene has visited Haiti twice a year for medical missions. He is currently working to raise funds for a private medical clinic and rebuild a girls’ orphanage that was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake.

Within his native Buffalo, he chaired the board of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Shea’s Performing Arts Center, Western New York Public Broadcasting, Zoological Society of Buffalo and Canisius College, his alma mater.

“Bob has served on the board of more than 20 charities in Buffalo. All have benefited from his expertise and improved our community,” said Paul Michael Hassett of Buffalo (Brown & Kelly), past State Bar president and chair of the Committee on Annual Award’s Root/Stimson Award subcommittee. “He is an inspired choice for this award.”

Greene is a partner of Philips Lytle. He previously served as the firm’s managing partner and chief executive officer. He received his law degree from Notre Dame Law School.

The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
